I think Austin is exceptionally well positioned for creating the community space in SF and this has a potential of becoming something really special and impactful! I've spent a day here so far, and it feels like a great space to both build stuff, find inspiration and socialize.

1. Who does a job of a human witness in this test? How do you make sure that there is a human online when someone wants to play the "interrogation game"?
2. Have you applied for OpenAI or Claude credits?
3. How about asking users to input their chatgpt API key to play?

Seems like "Inadequate understanding of user needs, leading to ineffective solutions." could be addressed by user testing. I think it's a necessary step before implementing anything

If LTFF were another regrantor with the 3x boost to any donation, that would have been so awesome. I mean if you agreed to add every project that you are planning to fund publicly here, so that everyone can see what is funded and hopefully get some report when the project is finished.

I encouraged Alexander applying here, based on that some people in Nonlinear Networked like his application and that funding goal is quite low. I don't think 40k budget would be a good bet, but 6k could be worth a try. I'm interested to learn what regrantors think about it

My biggest concern is that scaling the org too fast could be detrimental, and I have no idea how to judge it besides deferring to people with similar experiences

If scaling Apollo's output is, in fact, limited only by cash - this seems like an amazing grant. At least as good as funding most of the independent folks.

The one goal that may lead to significant impact in my opinion is : "Train and cultivate AI Safety scholars in Africa" - if it has a chance of scouting people who can contribute to "AI notkilleveryoneism". Not sure if establishing a lab in Africa is the most efficient path to that. Probably scholarships or targeted reach out would be more effective

I'd love if such a project could happen, but I find it hard to believe it's possible.

I see how skill tree may be developed for a frequently sought after and well described skill, e.g. "making a pitch deck", or "writing a SQL query".

I appreciate this application and encouraged Can applying here based on his application to Nonlinear Network. I think being accepted to ARENA is a strong signal, and I would like to see proactive independent researchers being encouraged in their pursuits (by money or otherwise)

I'd like to see more elaboration on the budget, e.g. for how long do you see yourself working independently, how much do you expect to need per month, and what is going to happen if you don't receive funding.

Jacques has already produced an impressive amount of work, and some people in Nonlinear Network were excited to see him funded.

I don't feel qualified to assess the importance of the current project proposal, it would be really nice if more informed people commented on this.

Do I understand correctly, that it's not an EA related art, but general art that would aim to make an experience of attendees better? If so, I think current funders of the conference are good people to reach out to for funding: what did they say?

I'd be excited to fund EA inspired art, since I share Austin's opinion that EA could be better in this regard

As a note, I'd be more willing to fund more concrete expenses, once you have a budget for the exhibition, funding it all "in general", since it's hard to gauge how much money would be needed and what they would buy.

Could you provide some cost benefit analysis here? E.g. how many children were treated based on the 35k the ACT spent last year, and how did you measure the effect of the treatment?
